over 10.000 years ago, after the last ice age, humans began to explore and settle the place now known as scotland. evidence of our ancestors can be found in the various rock carvings, standing stones, tombs and dwellings still scattered throughout the lands today. modern archaeological techniques can offer ever more detailed suggestions as to what these monuments might have meant, but it is still largely left to our imaginations to discern just what these spaces were used for.

having checked our records, its been a few years since the shelves at juno were graced with some music from the studio of italian dub techno exponent fabio scalabroni, so the arrival of a new 12inch brandishing his work is cause for celebration. the rohs! records label operated by belgium-dwelling compatriot andrea porcu is who we can thank for coaxing some new cuts out of scalabroni with the roots ep suggesting he s lost none of his production verve. root a will appeal to fans of the punchier tracks from the giegling discography whilst the b side track has a real slinky vibe to the groove that really gets in your head and stays there

elusive records keeps growing, thanks to our beloved artists, supporters, and the universe. putting quality first and bringing you the finest of the world’s underground, since 2008. information ghetto (3rd wave, get physical, multi vitamins, pro-tez,) makes his second appearance on elusive, once again proudly exhibiting his rich, distinctive, layered sound, with what is probably the most melodic track on this record. joining him, are two no less exciting finds. andrey burtaev (aka electrosoul system, kos.mos.music, highway records) is shining light at his space-dub project with mega secret weapon dub over moscow, and berliner sebastian albrecht (park recordings) is taking it towards his highly-infectious, precision hi-tech sound. watch out for these guys eps in the nearest future!

the next release on first music comes from profile with a beautiful picture cover! its a musical journey and a bomb tool for the upcoming summer months! we doubt that estonian-born artist viive kuks could imagine in 1984 that her euau-forte >viljandi vaade< (trnl. view of viljandi) will be on the record sleeve of a dubtechno record in 2015. moreover, that the birthplace of the music is also viljandi and that the graphics plate was stolen during turbulent times when a lot of countries were liberated. it was quite an off-chance and hard to believe that profile found a copy of the work at his grandparents place, framed and photographed the work for his 2nd vinyl release. and here it is, through countless threads and connections, through the memories of our forefathers. pure liberation.

we are proud to present our second release: a split ep between coldgeist & côme, mastered at dubplates. on the side a we have ‘nocturnal’ and its spatial atmosphere from côme, including a remix from in aeternam vale. the minimalism of the original track and the subtle evolution of the bells evoke a wandering through the abyss of a cold night until the final take off. a perfect opening act for this ep. in aeternam vale s remix sounds astonishingly powerful, cold and caustic with its uncompromising minimalism, but also provocative and capable to smash your ass on the dance-floor. on the flipside, ‘nommos’ original track from coldgeist and the remix from alexey volkov bring the power of industrial tones. coldgeist delivers a 7 minutes track which penetrates progressively into our intimacy. the deep atmosphere reinforced by the repetition of ternary patterns allow to approach a mesmeric state.

fumiya tanaka s double-tracker >beautiful town< was fully inspired by its cover artwork: a set of carefully selected old pictures with a layer of masterful signature paintings by romanian artist and fine-arts student bonjour bonsoir. a-sides >abacus avenue< is the ep’s most dense and eerie side. an addictive piece that utterly succeeds in sucking you right in like a vortex would. the locomotive bassline serves its purpose of movement in a strong loopy groove, while the pads and poltergeist y sounds reformat our heads with an inability for space-time tracking. the otherside of this town, >himegami marathon<, is another mysteriously intricate work. its a microcosm of grooves, sinister details and voices locked in a tight groove built on a single bass stab and a flowing, never-ending set of wet claps. a piano kicks in at key points, alongside percussive elements, reminding us that this town is alive.

following up his appearance on part 4 of our strength in numbers compilation, we are ecstatic to present some fresh material from no other than dj slip. a name that has been on the tongue of anyone entrenched in the us techno scene since the early 90’s, dj slip has entranced audiences for years with his brilliantly bizarre take on sonics. remix duties this time around come from berghain resident dj and all around musical powerhouse, answer code request.
